New Age caravans have specific wiring requirements to connect your caravan successfully to your tow vehicle.

12 Pin Plug configurations [Required]

Caravan Electrical Solutions have wired the 12 Pin Plug on your New Age caravan as per the table below. Please ensure that you take the below information to your authorised AutoElectrician when setting up your vehicle to tow your New Age caravan. Alternatively contact New Age Adelaide Service Department to undertake your auto-electrical wiring.

Please note: Whilst there are no formal standards for the 12 Pin Plug configurations Caravan Electrical Solutions (CES) believe that the below table offers the best solutions for both car and caravan compatibility whilst towing. If you have any concerns regarding the below configurations please contact CES to discuss.

Grey Anderson Plug [Necessary]

Your New Age caravan will be fitted with a Grey Anderson plug next to the 12 pin plug. This is used to charge the caravan battery from the cars alternator. This is also recommended to be supplied through a dual battery isolating device. 8mm² cable is to be used.

Please note, some modern 4×4 vehicles have a load dependent alternator (smart alternator) which alters its output depending on requirements of the load. If the tow vehicle is fitted with this technology it is recommended that a DC to DC charger be fitted.

If a DC to DC charger is fitted to the vehicle some minor alterations may be necessary to be done on your auto-electrics when setting up your vehicle.

Red Anderson Plug [If Required]

If you have requested ALKO ESC Safety feature to be fitted to your New Age caravan you will also require a Red Anderson plug to be fitted to your tow vehicle. This is wired directly to the tow vehicles battery using a 6mm cable through a 30amp fuse or circuit breaker.

Please note: Not all New Age caravans are fitted with ALKO ESC, your caravan plan will determine if the Red Anderson plug is required.

If your caravan has the TUSON TSC instead of ALKO ESC it DOES NOT need the red Anderson plug.

Electric Brakes [Necessary]

Electric brakes need to be fitted on your tow vehicle. Most brands are fine, but we recommend Red-Arc TowPro.

Reverse Camera [If Required]

If you have ordered or own a Reverse Camera/ Rear view system (most popular is Safety Dave) please arrange with us fitment if you require, your caravan plan will determine if the Rear Camera is required.
